Calendar appointment color blocks a mess

Greetings,

We recently upgraded from 7.1 all the way up to 8, and among the GUI changes I see that we've gone to a shaded look for calendar appointments, where each appointment rectangle is saturated with color at the bottom but fades to white at the top.

I hate it.

My complaints aren't just about the aesthetics, but about the usability - I have several different peoples' calendars on my screen at once, so they're in a wide range of colors. When the blocks were a uniform block of color it was much easier to tell appointments apart, especially when several overlapped each other. The skinny appointment status rectangle along the left also fades from bottom to top, further complicating the visual cues. Sure, it's shiny eye candy to make it fade, but the calendar is a utilitarian device, not a piece of artwork. How hard would it be to at least make it an option?

Zimbra 8 new search dialog

Hi,

Zimbra 8 introduced a new search dialog. When you enter a search command like "from:john vacation", you get a new tab with your search, and in the text box with your search, you see "balloons" with your search terms, like this:



Can that be disabled to get the original behavior back? I don't like this new behavior, because:

  • one search command is often not enough and you want to refine it. But, those 'balloons' are not editable.
  • You can delete those balloons, but they cause the search command to be executed again without pressing enter, making it slow if you want to add stuff.


So, I keep going back to the search bar at the top, but because that doesn't have my search in it anymore, I need to remember to copy it, so that I can repaste it when I need to refine the search.

Hello!

we use the calendar of Zimbra 8.0.0. After the login, I would like to start directly with the "calendar" and not with the "mail"- it is possible?

Webmail inbox only displaying emails from previous 30 days

Within the web-based mail (also on mobile) my inbox is only showing the last 30 days of emails. There are several hundred that are older than this date that are not displayed. They won't show up in searches, but if I put the email in other folders they will still be there after the 30 days.

If I go into Outlook or Thunderbird these older emails display within my inbox.

I can't find any settings within web based mail and the IT admin couldn't find anything in the backend settings. I'm the only one out of 450+ users with this issue. I've tried Chrome, FF, and IE, all with same problem.

ERROR on search in Mail Z OSE 8.0.1

I've just migrated a few dozen account from exch 2003 to Zimbra 8 OSE. Using split domain method
All went fine.

I just have at this time ONE account (and only one) that produce error in the webmail interface when searching on Mail, (no error when searching on calendar, or contact or whatever, just Mail)

When I search on "domi" in the inbox (or any other mail folder) I have a error window titled Zimbra whith a details button

Zimbra Spell Check Enhance / Replied Text Pass Only

I would like that the Spell Check checked only the text I replied or composed instead of the whole header and the text people write me, so it would be more accurate.


This would be great when enabling the force spell check feature on the COS, while that feature doesn't exists yet, users don't give credit to the spell check and always click "Send Anyway"...

IMAP Folders

I have successfully installed Zimbra and migrated 2 domains to it from Google Apps. Mail accounts are accessible and able to send/receive mail. So I went about the task of organising my biggest email account on the webmail client - adding a whole bunch of new folders and filters to sort out my 17k messages inbox - took a long time as you can imagine. I then setup outlook on my laptop and I am able to connect to the account, send and receive messages but none of the folders (or the emails in them) that I setup are subscribed. How do I sync all the folders I setup in the webmail client with Outlook?

Using External Calendar?

Soooo, I cannot use Zimbra Mobile on Windows Phone 7 due to certificate errors with self signed certificates (yes I have successfully installed them but Windows Phone 7 mail app still won't allow me to progress because of a domain name mismatch on the cert - I am running multiple domains on my Zimbra server but only 1 IP) which means I cannot sync my Zimbra Calendar with full access rights. I can subscribe to my Zimbra calendar in Windows Live Calendar but obviously that doesn't allow me to edit it (ie add appointments from emails received on my Windows Phone).

So my question is, is there any way (either through a Zimlet or other method) of making Zimbra use my Windows Live calendar? I don't really want to run multiple calendars, it is not very efficient. I have installed the Outlook Connector on my desktop machine to allow me to manage my Windows Live Calendar from Outlook, it would be nice if I can get Zimbra to use the same calendar.

Receiving multiple away / vacation / OOF messages during a user's vacation

Hello

We use Zimbra in our company, not sure which version, could be a 6.x but I am really not sure. (The login screen sports a "2011" at the bottom if that tells you something.)

Now the curious thing is that whenever my colleagues go on vacation and configure their away / vacation / OOF messages, I (and everybody else who e-mails them) receive these messages multiple times during their vacation. We simply cannot explain this to ourselves.

Except maybe if Zimbra would kind of reset the "I have sent OOF messages" indicator if a user logs in during the validity of his OOF message. Is this possible? The thing is, many of my colleagues simply cannot let go. They often log in during their holidays to see what's up.

ZCS 7 Cookies Error

I have been running ZCS 7 opensource. In one of the computers, i am getting this error :

Oops! It appears your browser does not allow cookies. You need to enable cookies in order to use the Zimbra Web Client.

I have enabled cookies and javascript..

AM wondering where to go next..

Content of the trash folder will not dispayed when search in shared folder is enable

hallo,

i have the folowing problem with zimbra version 8.0/8.0.1/8.0.2.

the content of the trash folder will not displayed when you have "search in shared objects" enabled and
you are connect to some shared folder. If you not connected folder it will work well!

if you switch of the "search in shared object" the the delete objects will displayed well.

Is this property is intended to zimbra or is it a bug??

I would normally want to see the content always whether the "search in shared objects" function is turned on or not.

Is this problem known and is there a solution for this?

and i have problem with sent mail title
any ideas how to fix this ?

Can I choose the From Address when sending an invitation?

Hi all

under preferences->accounts I can choose a "From" address that appears in the "From" field of email messages.

But when I send an invitation to someone the mail has the original mail address in the "From" field.

Is there a way to choose the "From" address for meeting invitations?

Very disappointing experience with Zimbra

Hi there -

Pardon my rant - but I feel I rather give some constructive criticism - maybe it will come to something.

We have just renewed our Zimbra Network edition licensing for 120 users - This is our 2nd year on Zimbra. Costed us for the renewal in South African Rands - about 50K - which is a lot of money. We took the opportunity of upgrading to version 8, while we're at it hoping some of the previous versions nuances, issues will be sorted out.

Now we find out that version 8 has a dspam bug - so we disable dspam - obviously with a considerable increase in incoming spam now. It's becoming harder for me as head of IT - to justify to directors spending 50K - and still unable to control something as elementary as spam - which incidentally gmail cuts down to virtually NIL.

Now I hear from the technical engineers, ldap backups are not successfully completing as well - surprise surprise, another version 8 bug. And then we're getting some SSL certificate error. And there are still a few other issues but I will omit for brevity.

All in all - for a product that is not cheaper any more than other leading solutions out there - not impressed at all :mad:

zimbra 8.0.1 UI ugly

I have been using Zimbra FOSS for several years and always found it to be a nice looking interface. Testing 8.0.1 and this very drab, plain, grey color is very disappointing. The themes do not really address this as they typically just recolor some of the borders and headings. The actual icons down the side of the windows are still drab grey. I think this style of minimalist look will put people off this product, there is a fine line between gaudy and dreary, which Zimbra trod very well in the past. Now it is just corporate bland and very unappealing.

Zimbra losing functionality

It is disheartening to see Zimbra losing functionality. There are plenty of email servers and clients available, but the thing that attracted me to Zimbra in the first place was the rich functionality: email, calendar, tasks, contacts (usual fair) plus document management, instant messages and recently the social media interface (social media is not high on my wish list), add zimlets and it is a very nice product. In ZCS5.x the documents feature was limited but had great promise. This was a product that looked like it might take on Google Documents but let me use on-premises solution rather than use the cloud (on-premises is required for me). Version 6.x seemed to be adding more of these features and improving on them. Then version 7 dropped the continued improvements in documents but added more in IM. Now version 8 appears to be dropping more features and trending more towards just another email server and web client solution, which Zimbra does pretty well, but then so do plenty of other solutions. If Zimbra loses more of what made it unique, especially on-premises, then there will be little reason not to look at gmail, arguably a cheaper solution with many more features and benefits. Maybe Zimbra doesn't think people use these features because they do not get any feedback about them, maybe people use them and do not have to complain because they just work as expected, maybe... Hopefully Zimbra will realise what makes it unique and reverse these decisions to drop some of this functionality.

spell check

Hello,

One of our users does have trouble using the spell check in Zimbra 8 webmail on a win7 machine, either in IE, firefox or chrome. misspellings or not recognized words are coloured as they should be. hitting the right mouse click gives a colour change at the destinated word but no alternatives comes up.
so far no one else experience the same problem and I am not able to reproduce the fault on my own hardware because everything works nice.
does anyone have a clue for this?

Multiple Outboxes

I am looking for some assistance with a very odd issue.
I am running Version 8.0.1_GA_5438.FOSS.
When I log into the web client (or use ZimbraDesktop - it does it on both), I have hundreds of Outbox folders in my folder list. If I delete them, they just come back after a few days. I'm not sure what is causing this. Screenshot of the issue is attached. Has anyone seen this behavior before?
